About Joey Perr

Joey‘s comics and work have appeared in the New York Times, BOMB Magazine, The Nation, Guernica, and Jewish Currents. His debut graphic novel, Hands Up, Herbie! (December 2019), follows artist and activist Herb Perr from a mob-linked Jewish family in Brighton Beach of the 1940s and ’50s through the studios of Helen Frankenthaler and Mark Rothko, Reagan-era art activism, and a reckoning with the responsibilities of raising a family.
